bike, he was hit and left to die in the street. >> steve keeley standing by police headquarters with the latest on this investigation, hi, steve. >> reporter: well, this happened late friday, early saturday, around 4:00 a.m., and the reason why we're just reporting it now, several days later, is initially came in as a suspected assault case, and then the victim in this case did not succumb it the injuries until two days after he was rushed to the hospital, 3:45 in the morning on saturday. twenty-seven year old jamal morris, local engineering employee, who graduated from drexel university, a very smart young man, who liked to drive his -- ride his bike all over the city for exercise, and for just caring about the atmosphere. that's what got him killed. riding on this very bright red bike, 45th and market street, somebody hit him and took off. at least somebody had the decency to see him lying on the street, and call 911, which saved his life for at least a bit. but you got to wonder if the initial person that hit him had called right away, would

sunday in vineland, near a restaurant. police were chasing brain and second person, richard bar, jr., after the incident, police say during that chase, he shot at police, in response, a officer shot and killed bard. >> a woman in the hospital after a driver hit her at eighth and spruce in center city, happened about 5:00 yesterday afternoon. medics took her to jefferson university hospital. don't know her condition, but we're told the driver who hit her did stay at the scene. >> and in swedesboro, police want to find this man's killer, a officer found the body of 61 year old sylvester cones, jr., in a trailer at abandoned business three weeks ago. combs was homeless, and investigators believe he was beaten to death. the borough's council has approved a 2,500-dollar reward for information lead to go arrest for the murder. >> coming up on 4:20. newspaper twist in the financial woes of atlantic city. yes, the city now suing new jersey, for more than $33 million. city officials say they were promised the money before the

if not we have to get it there. because it was fun. anyway, this is a look at the current ultimate doppler radar picture. nothing again on our side of the country, now it has been over a week since it has rained. more rain in texas, which isn't good, but back to us, because that's really what we are concerned about today. no clouds right now. it means sunny day today. it is a little cooler than yesterday. 10-mile per hour wind out of the north-northeast. 34% relative humidity, very dry mourning, 40's to the north of us, and then to the south of us, as well, although 52 degrees in wilmington, so these temperatures just a bit cooler than it was yesterday at this time. sweater weather once again this morning. but very comfortable and pleasant, little bit breezier than it was yesterday at this time. but not as breezy as it was in the afternoon when it got kind of windy. so today, pretty tranquil, pretty sunny, another butte which temperatures in the upper 60s, throughout the day, sunset time is 7:45. so, it is looking good, once again. how long can we keep this

going? we'll let you know when the next chance of rain is coming in the seven day forecast. bob kelly is here right now, what's up? >> we're on a roll. keep it coming. 4:31 on this wednesday morning, crews still out there, workers loving this weather by the way, 4:22 eastbound, down to one lanas you work your way from collegeville in toward king of prussia. light volume at the moment. so okay. just remember the speeds are reduced in all of the construction zones. here is a live look at the vine street expressway. still, officially closed, between the schuylkill and broad street. every now and then we see a car kind of move through, looks like they may be ready to open up the westbound side, and there is only one lane open on the delaware memorial bridge into delaware. i just spoke to the state police. they said probably until 5:30, they're replacing the suspension cords along the delaware memorial bridge. so if you are leaving new jersey, and heading into delaware this morning, only one lane open. this is left over from last

night. i would play it safe. if you are getting ready to step out the front door, don't even go down that far. come over the commodore barry, then take 95 south, into delaware, that will connect you with wilmington, you can go straight on down further south, that's the best bet until you know until we get the words that all of the lanes are open on the delaware memorial bridge. something goes wrong, they run behind, bamm, you can get yourself stuck in a traffic jam there, and fire location on naman's creek road, just off of route 322, with some local detours, the schuylkill, looking good at the moment, no problems. but penndot will be doing some line paint being later today which will tie us up all day in both directions. mass transit looking good, chris, lauren, back to you. >> man on his bike hit and left to die on the street of west philadelphia. >> and this morning, his mother's making a desperate plea to find the driver responsible, steve keeley with the very latest, steve, good morning. >> reporter: our viewers no doubt watching television every morning are sick every us saying hit-and-run. the reason we didn't talk

about this hit-and-run before now is because we didn't know it was hit-and-run, neither did police initially. it became a fatal hit-and-run, too, by the way, two days after the actual case on monday morning when the young man hit died 54 hours later after being brought to the hospital. it happened saturday morning, sometime before 4:00 a.m., and police believe it or not aren't even sure exactly what time 27 year old local mechanical engineer and drexel gradual jamar morris was hit, and how long he may have been just left lying in the street here at 45th and market, right down the street from where he went to college and studied engineering. because no one saw it happen. no one has found surveillance video so far of jamal biking past any cameras in the area. there are no car parts, like a mirror or headlight, that we usually see in other hit-and-run cases, it was initially even thought to be assault because the 911 caller told the operator a man was hurt and on the ground. he had head trauma. people thought somebody beat him. while it was only later

investigators after talking with the doctors at the hospital and trying to save him and realize that his injuries were from being hit by a car, and that he was on the smashed up bright red bike found nearby. >> we really need the public's help, and the public has helped out in the past. so we're asking to step up again and help with us this investigation. >> it was a bright red, 26-inch bike, bright red. maybe somebody saw a bright red bicycle about that time, with a car nearby, we need something to start on, that's why i am referring out to the public, the media, to help us out, help us start the investigation somewhere. >> we're frustrated right now. i'm still going to urge the person to come forward and turn themselves in, do the right thing, dot right thing by their conscious. >> well, something that may shake the person's conscious is that you hear about this great young man, and you understand why he was so good, because we melt his parent yesterday, and coming up in a half an hour you will hear from them. you will hear the mother say

she already forgives the driver even though she doesn't know hot driver is, you will also ask her talk about with her husband how jamal, even in death, saved seven lives. he was an organ donor. and his org ganse went to seven people who needed them desperately to go on living. >> so important to be an organ donor. all right, steve, thank you. >> and police are still searching for clues after a woman was found with her throat slashed in kensington early yesterday morning, around 3:00 a.m., detectives say the victim, who is in her 30's, collapsed on a 2,000 block of stella street after walking nearly 100 feet, wounded and looking for help. one witness says it was like a scene from a nightmare, when he saw the woman staggering down the street, soaked in her own blood. >> i knew her throat was slashed, it was wide open, from ear to ear. she stumbled down the street, outright here, and right there. >> that witness and passing motorist ran to the woman's help. police say the woman carried no id. could not speak as a result of

that 12-inch gash to her throat. she has had surgery, and is recovering in critical condition at temple hospital. >> a police department in mourning, after the sudden death of a fellow officer. according to the haverford township police department, 39 year old william alberta died sunday due to an illness. the seven year veteran of the force suffered medical emergency last week while playing ice hockey in the police league. he died of natural causes after being hospitalized for a week. he leaves behind his wife and three young kids. services are set for this weekend. >> happening today, pennsylvania attorney general, kathleen kane, will be back in court for a pretrial hearing. kane want a judge to who leaked record togs a newspaper. her lawyers say only three groups had the fb iphone recording of her political consultant, those parties prosecutors, state prosecutors, and kane's legal team.

>> all right, we show you the pollen count. if you suffer from seasonal allergies, undoubtedly your bill at the grocery store for tissues has gone up, because it has really been high. we haven't had rain in over a week. even after we get some rain on friday it, doesn't look like it will be enough of a deluge, to really take down that pollen level very much. so, even on saturday, we're predicting high levels of tree pollen. temperatures falling little bit with the jet stream further to the south.

we told you yesterday about the colds front. so we don't think we will even make it to 70 in some places today, after that 82 degrees on monday. but still, it is about average for this time of year. what we're predicting, we don't have any rain as we showed you, un for the lip, there still is rain in texas, where they've had flooding for the past couple of days, it is the dallas area getting hit this morning with very heavy rain. and some thunderstorms moving down toward wako. but for us, it is dry at the moment. we look ahead to the future cast. we see dry weather for the entire day today and tomorrow. but by the end of the day tomorrow we will see cloudy skies, and then, the rain rolls in, maybe few showers overnight, and into friday morning. but it looks like friday afternoon is when we will get whatever we will get. again it, doesn't look like it will be enough of a deluge to really make a big difference in the pollen, but at least it will water whatever you have planted outside so far t should be gone by saturday morning, and that will be our one day of rain for this work week, 52 degrees right now in philadelphia, little chillier

philly. come on down. no problems at all, just pulled up the barricades. so we are open for a morning rush hour. the vine street expressway had been closed through the overnight, take it off our checklist. forty-two freeway coming into the city light volume so far this morning. only one lane open on the delaware memorial bridge headed into delaware. police say until about 5:30, right now, just minor brake tap coming across the span. but in the next half hour, if you typically use that delaware memorial bridge, i would play it safe and cut off and use the commodore barry into pennsylvania, and then come south on 95 to a void getting stuck in the jam that could occur here on the delaware memorial if they're not out of there in time with the construction. as dave kinchen just mentioned, hillary clinton event in town tonight will impact the evening rush hour big time. first of all, doors open at 4:00. then starts at 6:30, it is at the philmore, which is right up the street there from
